Accessibility Policy

CAN strives to make the information it publishes accessible to everyone, including those with limited capability. This limited capability could take the form of physical or mental disabilities, or technological limitations.

As such, this website has been designed to cater for the average user and for those audience members who fall into these two categories. An example of physical disability is a visual impairment, for which we have built the website to work with 'screen reader' browsers.

An example of a technological limitation is a user who has an older computer without a high-speed Internet connection, and to cater for this the website has been designed to work with graphics turned off or without a mouse.

Below you will find specific tips for using this website which may help those with limited capabilities.

If you believe CAN can improve its performance in this area, please contact us.

Access Keys

Access keys allow you to navigate between pages of the CAN website using just your keyboard. Most browsers recognise access keys, including Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (and later) and Netscape Navigator 7.0 (and later).

To use access keys, simultaneously press the ALT key and the letter corresponding to the link you wish to follow (as indicated below), then press the RETURN key. Some browsers may use a different key combination for access keys and you should consult your browsers help pages for more information.

The access keys for this website are as follows:

  • Main navigation

    • Skip navigation [0]
    • Home [1]
    • Social investment [2]
    • Mezzanine [3]
    • Services [4]
    • News & Information [5]
    • About us [6]
  • Secondary navigation

    • Subscribe [Z]
    • Contact us [8]
    • Media [G]
    • Site Search Keyword [K]
  • Tertiary Navigation

    • Help [9]
    • Site Map [S]
    • Privacy Policy [Y]
    • Accessibility Policy [W]
    • Legal Info [R]

Tabbing

In addition to Access Keys you can also use the TAB key on your keyboard to jump between links on a page. Use the TAB key to select a link and then press RETURN to follow the link.

If you use a Macintosh computer you must press both the ALT and TAB keys simultaneously in order to jump between links.

Special Browsers

If you use a special browser such as a 'screen reader' or other assistive technology, you may find it handy to skip over the visual navigation and other items at the top of each page.

As such we have placed a link near the very top of each page in this website labelled 'Skip Navigation'. Using this link will take you straight to the content for the page.
